Heard and Seen（やぶにらみ見聞録）
Words reflect the culture itself.
Last November, Mr. Hisashi Inoue went on
an NHK's morning show titled with "Japanese
words that I wish to retain for the next
generation."
One thing left me a strong impression is
that he showed his hand-written words "Simplify
difficult things."
I wondered that the words we usually use
may be one of the things he meant.
We might be using the words, names of parts,
or professional words that many of Kenshi
may not understand.
Not only are we using the words that we wish
to pass on to the next generation, but also
we might be using wrong names for the parts,
or wrong characters for them.
I could not help thinking seriously about
this.
Although we conform to "simplifying the difficult words", we should not use wrong characters or letters.
For example, a character used in "Shokko"（蜀紅）、if we were to use a different character,
the meaning of the works or the effect of
the characters may be negated.
I have seen many examples of wrong use of
letters or characters in "Kendogu"
or Kendo equipment world among the people.
In addition, there are some differences in
the name of "Bogu" or protective
gear even between the users and the manufacturers.
The issue is who is right or wrong. The issue
is how to simplify the name, the meaning,
and the origin. We would like to address
the issue as a series of news letter to you.
